Meet The Founder

Mahroo Moshari, LCSW, is a consultant on education and multicultural mental health issues for diverse populations in the New York City area. Her passion and commitment are to assist adolescents in understanding social diversity through developing a multicultural competency. Her own multicultural background provides a unique perspective from which to address life in a world increasingly interconnected across cultural, ethnic, and religious boundaries. She has an extensive background working as a psychotherapist, teacher, counselor, social worker, supervisor, and senior project director at leading New York hospitals, mental health clinics, schools, universities, and social service agencies. Mahroo is also the director of unique summer youth program for ages 16-21 at the United Nations and various venues in Manhattan.

After completing a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree with emphasis in clinical social work at New York University, Mahroo continued her studies and training in cross-cultural psychology at Columbia University’s Teachers’ College and at the Mental Health Association of New York City. She has training in CBT, structural family therapy, anti-racism and crisis counseling.

Mahroo is currently a main representative to the United Nations for NGO-MMC with special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council. She is also a member of the International Association of Applied Psychology, Psychology Coalition of NGOs, CoNGO Committee on Children’s Rights New York, and NGO Committee on Human Rights. In addition, Mahroo served as a former representative of International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES) for the Convention on the Rights of the Child as well as a member-at-large for NGO Committee on Mental Health.
